 Student’s Comments -group lessons-

Ako sensei’s classes are perfectly structured for remote style learning. Although it is one hour per week, the extra work you need to do makes it much more than 1hour. However, you are in control of how much extra time you want to put in. The style is really fun and the other classmates are all awesome, nice people. My Japanese level has definitely increased a lot after one semester with Ako sensei. The mix between speaking, listening, grammar and reading comprehension is 100% spot on.

Ako-sensei’s lessons are fun and well prepared. Lessons follow a predictable progression, so you can prepare beforehand and after the lessons polish up your understanding with a small quiz. The pacing is great and she does a great job at explaining everything in Japanese. In group lessons everyone was nice and fun to learn with. Overall it’s been a great experience and I’m looking forward to the next semester!

I liked all of the class! The homework was hard but I didn’t dislike doing it. I liked the way you mostly kept to script, but allowed small interstitial conversations as well. You dealt with us interrupters very professionally. I am very impressed with your set up – I don’t know how much independent work you were doing before COVID, but I love your work – between the class, the youtube, the podcast and the tweets. Hard work I’m sure. Thank you!

I really enjoyed Akiko-sensei’s N2 group lessons. The atmosphere was very encouraging and Akiko sensei explained grammar points in a very easy to understand way. Every week we read an article related to tech and would have to give a speech related to that article. Although coming up with an interesting speech could be hard, I liked having a challenge that made think. The grammar practice was also fun, and the 5 min conversations were another fun challenge since I don’t get much speaking practice these days. I highly recommend her lessons. Thanks again Akiko-sensei, i look forward to taking another lesson sometime soon!

Ako-san has a great style and explains things well, which makes grammar easy to understand. It is clear that she is a very committed and professional teacher. I enjoyed the lessons, and felt that they pushed me more than other lessons have in the past. The lessons are well structured, and have a good mix of grammar, vocabulary, kanji and conversation.
